Can you tell!?

I've been searching the web for a cool way to cover my out dated light fixture in our guest room! My mom is coming to town for Thanksgiving, and I feel like a mad women trying to get things perfect!
I put a tremendous amount of pressure on myself when guest come to the house! I feel like people expect the house to look a certain way, I mean this is what I do, so I expect the same! Not to mention my OCD for all things clean and organized makes my insane, I can spot every finger print, smudge,  mark, on any surface of the house! Ok I'm putting a little to much pressure on myself.

So with that say...

I found this awesome fixture
 via
I had to have it...only at my price tag!!
So off to the dollar store I went!

So have you tried to guess what the fixture is made of...Go ahead take another look!!

Voila!  Plastic spoons!!

I decided to use forks (guess I wanted to be a rebel!)

First, I had to cut the forks! Not a very easy task! This project definitely was all by trial and error, the first couple split but I eventually got the hang of it.

Next drilling a hole into the forks...have you ever notice the little circle in at the top and botton of plastic utensils? Well it really came in handy! This part also took some figuring out. Putting enough pressure, but not to much to break the whole thing!

Now what to attach the forks to...

I used an old lamp shade, just took off the fabric!

To attach them I used craft wire, It would of been easier to just already shaped rings, but after a few trips back and forward to the Dollar Tree for forks, I said forget it and used what I had!

So 6 bags, 48 per bag....288 PLASTIC FORKS later!

I never want to look at a plastic utensil in a LONG time!!

Expect my shade of course!!

Before

After

Almost forgot..Here is how I hung it!
Using floral wire

 Have a very blessed Sunday!!
