Please have a seat!

I've always wanted to explore the world of reupholstering, but the thought made me a little uneasy.

But, since I knew that I would never pay the amount that professionals charge, I had no choice but to tackle it head first. I started small with a chair that was very simple, I purchased this chair from Craigslist for $10.00

I first took off the seat cushion, and spray painted the the chair with Krylons bright idea in gloss.
(I do just about everything in gloss)

Then, using a hammer and nails, because I currently do not own a staple gun, I covered the cushion with fabric from Hobby Lobby. I wanted to give the chair a young, fresh look, so I went with a very modern pattern.
~adding your  more padding is always a good idea, especially if it is an older chair. ~

Now on to a bigger challenge!

Sorry I don't have any pictures of this chair in its raw state. I got so anxious to do it I totally forgot to take a before!
I cheated with this chair but Shhhhh...That's our little secret!
I read every article and blog and seen every Youtube video on how your suppose to properly reupholster a chair, well unfortunately as you will soon find out I'm more of an, as long as it look, good rather than following all the directions kind of girl!
I first  painted the arms and legs black.
Here is the the part I cheated on...instead of taking the original fabric off I just covered it with some padding, and instead of using fabric I covered the chair with two $20 rugs from Walmart.

TA-DAAAA!!!

The chair was $20 on Craigslist
two rugs from Walmart were $20 each
$60 project compared to hundreds you would spend with the professionals!!

Hooked on you

Hanging things on shelves isn't very visually appealing. So I decided to use a piece of wood that I have been holding on to, to create a set of hooks for Eden's room.

First, with my trusty glue gun, I started to cover the piece of wood with fabric that was left over from some other projects that have been done in her room.

Next, I screwed in the hooks before the piece was completely covered to make sure I got the hooks in the right spot. Since there were already holes in the wood piece, that really made the job simple!

Last, I added ribbon...

And here you go, project complete!

Happy Sunday!!

Kitchen organizing...the cheap way!!

My kitchen was is need of some serious organizing, but I kept putting it off saying I would wait until I got all the right baskets and gadgets.

But when I started opening doors and cabinets with my eyes closed, I knew enough was enough,  So about 12am this morning I went in my kitchen in search of some fast and cheap ways to create storage!

First I started with this bag, I wasn't sure what I would use it for when I got it, and wasn't even sure what it was! But it was a $1 and I knew I would find a place for it!

With some left over fabric, a dish cloth and a glue gun I made storage for our trash bags!
Next with a Quaker Oaks box top and the same dish cloth I created storage for grocery bags!

The rest was simple...using other household boxes and items I already had around the house, I created effective ways to store and find items.

I used chalkboard paint on the canisters and glass jar to make finding things even more convenient.

Next was the junk cabinet that everyone knows they have!

sorry its blurry..but you definitely get the point!

I used more household items to create storage.

Well its not completely finished but definitely progress!

Hope you enjoyed your Saturday!

This is totally not for your home!

This is so off the subject but I'm really in love with this current style!

Parachute pants aka Mc Hammer pants!

They can create a relaxed, yet edgy look when paired with the right blouse, and even a jacket or blazer, as shown in the pictures below!!

These pictures are from the website

The shoes are what's really on display, but I couldn't help but admire the styling!
What is so great about this website is that everything...YES everything is $39.95 and if you sign up now your first item gets a 50% off discount!

Can't beat that!

 BTW, just ordered this purse

LOVE! <3

Now back to your regularly scheduled program!

OH what a day, what a deal!

Today, Eden and I set off for the grocery store...but came home with a lot more than food!

Even though the grocery store and my fave antique store are nowhere close to each other, I just had to make a little pit stop!

Finders Keepers is the name of the antique store and when you step foot in there, it's almost like walking into Heaven! Odds and ends, bells and whistles, and room after room of so many treasures!

I was in search of mirrors for a wall I'm working on. I currently have a pretty sorry wall of mirrors, but I'm hoping it can be as awesome as Vintage Revivals Mandi's wall of mirrors! Its a work in progress but I'm very excited for its final reveal!

For now, I will show you its current state!

I also found two display pieces for my kitchen.
oval mirror $15, rectangle mirror $8 wine cooler $5

Plate $5
Overall today was a great day and I even eventually made it to the grocery store.

I love my Lamp!!

I have been stalking my local Goodwill store for the perfect lamp for the master bedroom. I knew exactly what I wanted in my head and wouldn't settle for anything less! I've seen a few but the price wasn't quite right....finally I found her!!
$12.99 and it included the shade!
I couldn't leave without it! There were two different but very similar lamps and totally not thinking I only bought one!
Let's just say less than two hours later I was rushing back praying that she was still there! The lady who checked me out said, "I see your back!"

I felt like such a winner!!

I love the vintage look, I spray painted them navy blue with
Krylon gross
to add a modern flair.

YUCK!

I added navy blue rope for a personal touch!

Here she is...I'm so in love!!

Hi my name is Sherika...and I'm a new blogger!

Have you ever had one of those, "Hey, I can do that too!" moments!? Well I recently had mine! Blogging wasn't something I was very interested in and honestly didn't think I had that much to say, even though I'm sure my husband would probably tell you different! But after moving into our new home and experiencing the wonderful joy in having a garage where I could spray paint anything to my hearts content, I become addicted to decorating our new space! Since I live by all things that have to do with fashion and style, I knew my home couldn't fall short of all the style I believe I possess!! The Nate Berkus show became my drug of choice, but one episode in particular grabbed my attention like non other! On the show there is a segment called House Proud and this episode featured a woman named Mandi Gubler and I mean I think I watched that episode like ten times!!

Please look at the link below, she is pretty amazing!

Well I goggled her name and stumbled upon her blog and from there stumbled upon blog after blog that was dedicated strictly my passion..all things fashion, decor, design, and thrifting...boy did this add fuel to my fire! Women...and Men displaying their lives, talents, homes and ideas for all to see! From that moment on I knew that I had to find the courage to do the same! I began taking pictures of all the things I created that I thought were just as worthy and of course used some of their ideas as inspiration! With the push from my husband and all my friends that we commenting on my Facebook pictures and even coming to me for design ideas, I knew the world couldn't wait another moment to meet ME and to see all my the little tricks, shopping tips and glue gun fixes! :)
So with that say Welcome to my life as a blogger! WOW! I'm super excited and shocked that I'm here, with as much to say as I do! But I guess after staying at home all day with a 10 month old you realize how much you really enjoying talking to anyone over 5! Please stayed tuned as I introduce my ideas and creations to the world...ok well at least all my family and friends that I will remind daily!

Thank you so much for your time and please enjoy this journey of me...As a new Blogger!! Ahhhhhh!
that's not dust...its spray paint! I think I've painted every inch of our garage!
